FreeCAD - free access CAD, suitable for teaching computer graphics design. Relatively simple system for three-dimensional design, equipped with a means of modeling the movement. In addition to the design problems, the program is useful for the development of geometry, kinematics, dynamics, principles of design tools and simulation of physical processes. A feature is the presence of freeCAD motion simulation. Written in Smalltalk.

Basic objects can be grouped into FreeCAD assembly, connecting them to each other by different types of bonds. Thus forming various mechanisms. Based on the parameters of parts and relations between them, FreeCAD performs dynamic analysis, which resulted in a model of the motion assembly in accordance with the laws of Newton. The data obtained serve as a basis for building an animation reflecting the behavior of the system dynamics. In addition, the motion data can be stored as a set of coordinates of control points and other data collections. Linear coordinates of the points can be scaled and normalized. The data sets include the values ??of the linear and angular displacement, velocity, acceleration, forces, moments, and kinetic energy. The user can review the direction and magnitude of the forces acting on different parts of the system and resulting in their moments.

The new version of each assembly can be provided with a text commentary. The assemblies are stored in a readable text format, with fields separated by tabs. This provides pre-and post-processing using other programs, in particular spreadsheets.
